A year ago tonight I arrived in Las Vegas, met by my sister, Donna, and my only brother, Bob. The next day, my sister and I would travel to Lancaster, CA where we would check on my mom in the hospital. Our family is maybe a bit different-I have three sisters and one brother, but we are very spread out in age. If you asked me, I would tell you that my brother and I never lived in the same house-he is 18 years older than I am. He tells a different story, like remembering taking me down to the soda fountain at the drug store and sitting me on a stool next to him. At any rate, years and distance between us have been our enemy. We have been like strangers, having little opportunity to be together. Through the illness and death of my mother, we had many opportunities to be together, and to get to know each other, many heart to heart moments. Today, we seldom go more than a couple of weeks without talking. I am SO thankful for this gift that came about through a really difficult time. I can't think of today without remembering what our relationship was like a year ago.
My "Blog Instructor" got me started doing this and then left town before I could learn how to put pictures on here. She is back now, so I am hopeful I will get my next lesson soon. I don't want this to be boring! She also says these have to be short, to keep your attention. I'm not sure I can do that either! Stay tuned!
